24 Hour Project 2017
Documenting humanity to help make a difference.
In 2012, the project was first initiated by Renzo Grande, a New Yorker of Peruvian heritage who wanted to see if his friend from Los Angeles, now co-founder Sam Smotherman, and him could go for 24 hours taking photos and publishing them on Instagram every one hour.
The project gained popularity among the smaller Instagram community and it grew to the point where the 2017 edition saw 3,940 photographers from 840 cities and 112 countries on a 24 hour photographic marathon.
Each year the project supports an NGO and helps bring awareness to the work they do, in rescuing refugees or protecting immigrants, empowering them and giving them a voice so they can be heard worldwide.
